St Patrick's School Uniform Policy

Rationale:
At St Patrick’s School wearing the correct school uniform and the overall appearance of our students is an important part of school life. We believe that the wearing of the St Patrick’s school uniform brings with it many benefits. These include the promotion of a child’s self respect, a sense of belonging to a school community and a sense of school pride. This policy has been formulated to meet the needs of students, their families and the school. The uniform, as outlined below, is to be worn at all times during school hours. The school prides itself on a high level of student compliance with this policy. The wearing of the school uniform will be monitored by our staff. The school will then contact the parents regarding this matter. Full parental support of this policy is an expectation of St Patrick’s School.

Guidelines Regarding Appearance of Uniform
- For boys and girls, hair below shoulder length needs to be tied back or trimmed
- Exaggerated hairstyles or hair colour, and/or use of makeup, may be considered a breach of the uniform code. It will be at the discretion of the Principal to determine whether or not a student has breached the code.
- Body piercing and/or items of jewellery that could cause a danger to a student during learning or play time are not acceptable as part of the uniform code.
- Plain sleepers / a single small stud or a suitable religious cross on a necklace is acceptable.
