St Patrick’s believes it is important to be involved within the local community and we have many local community links. We are involved in delivering Meals on Wheels, visiting local kindergartens, interacting with students at Skene Street School, participating in local events offered through the Northern Grampians Shire and contributing to a variety of local charities. We are also involved in National Events such as, Jump Rope for Heart , Walk Safely to School and ANZAC day celebrations.
Sustainability is a key component of our learning and teaching philosophy and daily practice. Our Sustainability Hub gives all students the opportunity to experience the outdoors and develop their knowledge and skills in the area of Sustainability. The Hub includes several vegie patches, an orchard and chickens.
We also have extensive water saving tools and practices. These includes water tanks that are used to water the Hub and water saving practices for students that help water other areas of the school grounds. The reduce, reuse and recycle concept is promoted on a daily basis here at St Patrick's School.
A Sacramental program is run each year for those students who choose to participate in the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and Eucharist.
This is a Parish based program that is supported by the school.
Students are immersed in all three Sacraments through their Religious Education program. This is followed by the various Sacramental celebrations in the church. This is an important aspect of the Catholic identity of St Patrick’s in Stawell.
Choir is a fundamental part of school life with two fundamental objectives. (1) to offer young people from Grades 3 to 6, the opportunity to gain musical and personal growth in a choral group and (2) to provide our community with a children’s choir capable of performing a variety of music with particular emphasis toward service to community organizations and concert situations.
Within the Catholic tradition social outreach is an important action which promotes the living out of Gospel values. At St Patrick’s we have several programs that support this.
These includes Project Compassion which raises money during Lent for Caritas, Jump Rope for Heart that raises money for the Heart Foundation, Mission day, St Vinnies Winter Appeal and St Vinnies Christmas appeal.
Our school choir sings on a regular basis at local nursing homes, senior students visit local kinders and other local schools in Stawell. Our students are also involved in a Christmas appeal that collects goods for needy children around Christmas time.
